Employment plays a significant part in reducing the risks of re-offending. We are fully committed to providing our support services within a context of Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG) in order to support ex-offenders in progressing into employment.
Our one-to-one and group IAG sessions are all centred around the needs of the individuals. Subsequently, action plans are drawn up with realistic and relevant actions which enable the individual to progress from their current position towards their career goals and aspirations.
PLIAS Resettlement is continually establishing partnerships with both employers and partners who specialise in supporting people into employment.
We engage with local and national employers in order to challenge barriers to employment faced by people who have criminal records. We continually work with both the client and employers to identify training needs in order to maximise the chances of individuals securing sustainable employment.
We provide:
  • Support with completing job application forms
  • CV development workshops
  • Careers advice and information
  • Job search sessions including access to newspapers, jobs bulletins and the internet
  • Self esteem and confidence building sessions
  • Bespoke motivational training
  • Sign-posting onto other organisations and employers
We ensure that the employment information, advice and guidance is relevant to the goals and aspirations of each client and is realistically achievable.

Once we have supported clients into employment, we will provide continuous support and guidance including Finance & Budgeting and other bespoke training they may require.
Employment Skills Programme
PLIAS Resettlement recognises the importance of employment as a significant factor when reducing the risks of re-offending. Helping individuals to overcome the barriers that they face to employment is one of our main objectives in order to ensure that each client achieves increased economic stability and independence.
Our employment skills programme consists of a variety of skills and techniques designed to increase personal employability including:
  • CV Writing and improvement
  • Interview techniques
  • Personal presentation
  • Time Management
Each of these elements are designed to increase self confidence and self esteem, with further complimented by our bespoke personal development and life coaching support and motivational training.  
In addition to the above elements, we also provide specific training for people who have a criminal records on areas such as the Disclosures Act, Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and ‘Spent’ Convictions.
Included in our Employment Preparation programme are sessions dedicated to job search skills. This facility has been designed to provide individuals with the skills necessary to carry out successful Job searches and identify suitable and appropriate jobs. We provide regular access to employment bulletins, employment opportunities and the internet in order to search and make inquiries about employment opportunities.</p>
